A person standing in a golden wheat field near a coastal landscape with a lighthouse and ocean in the background under a blue sky.

Hi, I'm Dave.

Thanks for stopping by.

If you've ended up here, there's a fair chance we already have something in common. Maybe you love photography. Maybe you enjoy travelling. Maybe you're happiest outdoors with a camera in your hand. Or maybe you've simply wandered in by accident.

Whatever brought you here...

I'm glad it did.

I've lived in the Vale of Glamorgan for most of my life, and despite wandering all over the place with a camera, I still think we've got one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Britain.

The Heritage Coast has become my second home.

I've lost count of the number of times I've stood on those cliffs waiting for the light to do something special. Sometimes it does.

Sometimes it doesn't.

That's photography.

People often ask me how long I'll stay waiting for the right light.

The honest answer?

Longer than I probably should.

I've watched spectacular sunsets disappear behind thick cloud, driven home with nothing to show for hours of waiting and been completely soaked because I believed a weather forecast that promised a "light breeze."

For the record...

Whoever writes those forecasts has clearly never stood on a Welsh cliff.

Photography has taught me patience.

It's also taught me that some of the best days are the ones where absolutely nothing goes to plan.

What starts as "I'll just pop out for an hour" somehow turns into half a day, muddy boots, an empty flask and me wondering where the time disappeared.

And honestly...

I wouldn't swap it for anything.

Before photography became such a huge part of my life, I spent many years working in the printing industry before moving to Cardiff Airport.

Then one day I picked up a camera again.

That was probably the most expensive decision I've ever made.

Because once photography gets under your skin, there's no cure.

These days my camera bag never really gets unpacked.

It's always sitting by the door, ready for the next adventure.

It seems a bit optimistic...

But every now and then the light does something magical and I'm out of the house before I've had time to change my mind.

If the forecast promises dramatic skies...

I'm interested.

If it promises glorious sunshine all day...

I immediately become suspicious.

But this website isn't just about photography.

It's about the stories that come with it.

The places.

The people.

The coffee stops.

The wrong turns.

The laughs.

The unexpected moments that end up becoming the best memories.

Because let's be honest...

Nobody tells stories that begin,

"Everything went exactly to plan."

The best stories usually begin with,

"You're not going to believe what happened..."

And I've got plenty of those.

The next chapter is one I'm really looking forward to.

Over the next few years I'll be travelling across Australia, drifting along Britain's canals, discovering more of Scotland and Europe before heading further afield to South East Asia and South America.

My bucket list is still far longer than my passport stamps.

But here's something I've been thinking about...

Why should I have all the fun?

One of my dreams is to organise small photography adventures to some of the places you'll read about on this website.

Not big commercial tours.

Not standing in a line with fifty photographers all taking exactly the same picture.

Just a handful of like-minded people who enjoy travelling, photography, plenty of laughs and discovering places that don't always appear in the guidebooks.

Imagine watching the sun rise over the Australian coast.

Exploring the streets of Vietnam.

Cruising quietly through Britain's canals.

Standing in the mountains of South America.

Or finding a tiny café somewhere you've never heard of that serves the best coffee you've ever tasted.

Those are the adventures I want to share.

So perhaps one day we won't just be sharing stories on this website.

We'll be creating them together.

People often ask me where my favourite place is.

The truth is...

I haven't found it yet.

Because every time I think I have, another road appears.

Another path disappears over a hill.

Another coastline catches my eye.

And off I go again.

If you've made it this far, thank you.

I hope you'll stick around.

Read a few stories.

Have a laugh at my expense.

Enjoy the photographs.

Maybe even visit a few of the places I've written about.

And if one of my photographs ends up hanging on your wall, I'll be absolutely delighted.

If one of my stories inspires you to grab your own camera and head out on an adventure...

That means even more.

If you'd like to chat about photography, ask a question, arrange a photo walk, enquire about a print, or simply tell me about somewhere you think I should explore next, I'd genuinely love to hear from you.

And if the idea of joining me on a future photography adventure sounds like your kind of thing...

Drop me a message.

Who knows where we'll end up.

Oh...

One last thing.

If I ever tell you,

"I know a shortcut..."

Don't say I didn't warn you.

History suggests we'll probably end up somewhere completely different.

Then again...

That's usually where the best photographs are waiting.

The Story So Far...

Fancy a Chat?

If you've made it this far, thank you.

Hopefully you've enjoyed the stories, had a smile along the way and maybe even found a new place you'd like to explore.

Whether you've got a question about photography, would like to arrange a photo walk, are interested in one of my prints or calendars, fancy joining me on a future photography adventure, or simply want to recommend somewhere I should visit...

I'd genuinely love to hear from you.

Just fill in the form below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Who knows...

It might even be the start of our next adventure.
